The future of an Evanstown after school club has been boosted after it has received £5,000 from local energy company, Pennant Walters.
Little Fingers Kidz Club, which has been running since 2009, has become a prominent weekly fixture in the calendars of local children, parents and their carers and now the money has enabled the club to purchase new equipment which is set to boost the activities on offer, whilst broadening the learning of the children in attendance.
Local energy company, Pennant Walters, provided the £5,000 from a fund linked to the construction of the Pant y Wal windfarm which is adjacent to Ogwr Valley.
Michelle Norman, who founded the club along with friend Nicola Rogers, is thrilled with the money and said: “We set up the club to give local people the opportunity to give their children a place to play and learn in a safe environment, whilst bringing adults together as a community. We want to give all members every opportunity we can, but running on a volunteer basis means that we’re somewhat limited.
“Receiving this money is fantastic. It now means that we have been able to purchase much-needed soft play equipment for the little ones, while also buying arts and crafts material that will last us more than two years. On behalf of everyone at the club I’d like to extend a massive thanks to Pennant Walters.”
