Community Benefits Site Tour

22nd Jan 2018

On Saturday 20th January 2018 we were invited by Cllr Dean Cawsey to attend the home game of Banwen v Alltwen prior to which a tour of some of the community benefit investments was undertaken. The tour was attended by Cllr Cawsey and a number of Banwen RFC officials.

The visit included a walking tour around some of the new facilities at Onllwyn and Banwen:

a) The new ménage for Banwen & District Pony Club

b) The Dove Centre Improvements

c) The skate park for Onllwyn Community Council

d) The refurbished play area at Pantyffordd

e) The refurbished roof and facilities at Onllwyn Miners Welfare Hall (as seen in the film “Pride”)

f) The “3G” training pitch at Banwen RFC

g) The improved drainage at first team pitch at Banwen and tractor and garden equipment used to maintain it and AFC pitch.

The walking tour culminated in a reception at the committee rooms of the club with a sandwich lunch provided before the game.  A full list of the works done utilising (and match funding) the community benefit monies is shown in the “tracker document”.
