Pennant Walters is putting power into several Valley Ravens minis and junior rugby sides after becoming a sponsor of brand-new kit for three of their teams.
Until now the Club, which runs an extensive minis and juniors set-up, has had to make do with old kit that was handed down through the age groups but thanks to generous two-year sponsorships, from Pennant Walters and other local businesses, the youngsters in the Under 7’s, 8’s and 13’s are sporting brand-new kit with the Pennant Walters company logo.
The Club, which operates under their two senior clubs, Ogmore Vale RFC and Pontycymer RFC, currently has over 100 youngsters training and playing regularly – most of whom come from the Garw and Ogmore Valleys.
Kathryn Mainwaring, Under 8’s Team Manager and Junior Club Secretary, has been heavily involved in the club for many years. She said:
“We’ve got a fantastic set up providing opportunities for children from the Ogmore and Garw Valleys, and beyond, to get involved in rugby and take advantage of the many benefits it provides, but our kit was looking tired.
“This sponsorship is fantastic and, together with much appreciated sponsorship from other local businesses in the area, has allowed us to purchase a new kit for all our age groups! The teams are delighted and are proud to wear a smart kit carrying the Pennant Walters logo. It has given us a big boost and it is great to know that we have the support of local companies”
The sponsorship money from Pennant Walters was provided from a fund linked to the construction of the new, but standalone, Pant y Wal Wind Extension Farm adjacent to Ogwr Valley.
Pennant Walters Managing Director, Dale Hart, said:
“We are committed to supporting the communities close to our projects and are delighted to sponsor the three young sides at Valley Ravens RFC. Our wind energy project community fund exists to make a difference to the local communities in which we work, and we wish the Club the best of luck in the future and look forward to following their success.”
