The UK and Welsh Assembly Governments are committed to increasing the amount of renewable energy we produce. The draft National Development Framework (NDF) is an emerging 20-year plan for Wales up to 2040. It aims to identify where, inter alia, nationally significant energy developments should take place and how Wales can contribute to the fight against climate change. The Welsh Government consulted on a draft of the NDF in the Autumn 2019. The draft NDF policies 10-13 are noteworthy. The government’s policy is to direct large scale projects to the Priority Areas set out on p.42 of the draft NDF (follow the link below). If you have land within these priority areas you think is suitable for large scale wind or solar development then please do get in contact.
Pennant Walters is a Wales based renewable energy development company operating since 2002 with its head office in Hirwaun, near Aberdare South Wales. We take projects from origination, through planning, financing to construction and then operational management. We manage all six of the wind projects we have built and so landowners, local community and other stakeholders have continuity and get to deal with the same PW personnel they met at the outset of the project (in some cases more than 15 years ago).
Currently we have just under 124MW of operational onshore wind capacity in South Wales with another 40MW of onshore capacity permitted awaiting construction over the next few years. We are Wales’ largest home grown renewable energy developer.
