Future Wales: The National Plan 2040 (Future Wales) was published by the Welsh Government in February 2021 and identifies 10 Pre Assessed Areas (PAAs) for wind energy within which there is a presumption in favour of large scale wind development. Over recent years, Pennant Walters (PW) has worked in collaboration with landowners within and immediately adjacent to the PAAs, to identify potential sites to deliver new onshore wind development opportunities, primarily in South Wales.
This work has resulted in PW identifying a number of new sites to take forward through the planning process.
In 2024, PW obtained planning permission for two of the new sites – Mynydd Carn y Cefn and Mynydd y Glyn. Progress on all new sites is available under each project tab below.
